Arrest made in four bank robberies

Lafayette, LA – Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department were able to make a DNA profile match within CODIS.  The match was made by the Acadiana Crime Lab from evidence collected at one of the crime scenes.  The suspect, Muhammed Abdullah Nur (56) of Rayne, was arrested without incident and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on 4 Counts of First Degree Robbery.  Below is a list of dates and banks Nur is charged with robbing.

  • December 11, 2013    -           Midsouth Bank
  • January 10, 2014         -           Chase
  • January 10, 2014         -           Home Bank
  • February 6, 2014         -           Chase

The investigation remains ongoing.

 

Detectives Release Photos of Coolidge Bank Robbery

Lafayette, LA – Detectives are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect responsible for the bank robbery in the 1000 block of Coolidge.  On Friday, January 10, 2014, the suspect entered the business with his face covered and provided a note to the teller demanding money.  The suspect was provided with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene on foot. There were no injuries in the bank.

The suspect was described as a black male, medium build wearing tan jump suit and black cap.

Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspect to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
