Jennings teen wanted in connection to shooting

Updated:

Jennings police are looking for a teen who is wanted for attempted first degree murder.

Police say 17-year-old Trey Gant, 17, of Jennings is the person responsible for luring the three Rayne residents to Jennings.

Gant is suspected to have "ordered one pound of hydroponic marijuana" from the victims and directing them to the Penny Street location, where this robbery and gunfire took place. Based on this, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Gant on charges of three (cts) of attempted first degree murder.

More arrests are expected in this case. Also, unrelated to this, a warrant was also issued for 2 (cts) of Distribution of Cocaine for Gant. The Distribution charges were cases made during the recent 6 month long investigation and is one of the 40 warrants the department is serving during the course of this year. Assisting with locating Gant is the US Marshall's Office. Anyone with information of Gant's whereabouts are asked to call Jennings Police at 337-821-5513 or the Anonymous Tips Line at 337-275-9002.
