St. Martinville Rotary Club holds Mardi Gras Ball

Updated:

The Mardi Gras festivities Saturday didn't end with the Krewe of Carnivale en Rio parade, as people flocked to St. Martinville for the Rotary Club's formal Gala Ball.

The evening event was held at the Cade Community Center with the theme, "Joan of Arc".

Former King George Bonin talks about the uniqueness of this ball compared to others.

"Ours is unique because it is social event of the year in St. Martin Parish and it is our because fund raiser from which we provide different charities with gifts. For instance, we started a program recently giving every second grader in the parish a dictionary." said Bonin.

The Rotary Club will contribute most of the proceeds from each attendee's $25 entry fee to local charitities.

The organization would like to stress that this event is not just a St. Martin Parish event and would like to invite all of Acadiana to come out and support next year's event
