Tonight, there is a MEMBERS-ONLY mentor mixer at Ruffino's on the River, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, for those members who have already signed up and paid for the705 Mentor Program.
Our Mentor Program is the only program of its kind in Acadiana. The program provides both mentors and proteges with a mutually rewarding experience, and designed to provide 705 members with direct and exclusive access to local mentors in our community. Mentors have been selected from the Acadiana area and are leaders who want to assist in the development of young professionals. We are seeking participants from a variety of disciplines.
Provide members with an opportunity to work with and develop relationships, personal and professional, with the established leaders in the Acadiana community. The result will be a development pipeline for the next generation of leaders.

HOW IT WORKS
Mentors and participants are asked to commit to 4 personal meetings (breakfast/lunch/whatever works for the group) over the course of a year with their proteges. They are welcome to have more meetings, but we request a minimum commitment of 4. Each mentor will be assigned up to 4 members and 1 board member. There will also be two mentor/protege social events hosted by the705 to encourage casual conversation amongst community leaders and the705 members.
the705 members who are current with their dues will be eligible to participate in the mentor program through the application process. Mentors will be matched with proteges by the Professional Development Committee. Your assigned Board Member will be responsible for communication and meeting planning with the mentor.
The Program Development Committee along with the President will assign applicants to the Mentors.
To participate in the program, we ask each member for a $60 registration fee to offset program costs. Each 705 member and board member will be required to cover the cost of their own food and drink during the meetings.
the705 Membership Meeting: Kevin Blanchard & the Lafayette Comp Plan Facebook event
Plan Lafayette is done, and the705 was actively involved! Beginning with the State of Parish Address, where our City-Parish President, Joey Durel, recognized us individually for our motivation and passion for shaping Lafayette, to unveiling the Plan Lafayette Exhibit at Art Walk, where you were asked for your feedback, and ending with an exclusive meeting with Chuck Marohn, who injected constructive insight into our proposed planning leading to a transformative discussion about the future of our city.
Where do we go from here? How can the705 leverage all this great engagement and information to make a lasting impact on our community?
Join us at Jefferson Street Pub, this Thursday night, from 5:30 to 7 pm, for our monthly membership meeting. We'll have an informal atmosphere, with our guest, Kevin Blanchard, to share, collaborate, and form ideas on how we can support our government in moving Lafayette forward.
Kevin Blanchard is a former journalist and attorney by trade who now serves as LCG's Chief Development Officer, after being appointed by Mayor Joey Durel, in November 2013. He is an integral part of the Comprehensive Plan and is responsible for coordinating planning and development efforts across city-parish government.
Kevin will be re-capping many of the highlights from Plan Lafayette week and sharing with the705 where we, as young leaders, can make our mark during this exciting time in our community.
