Chase ends in Kaplan neighborhood, shocks residents

Updated:

For residents living along Lemaire Avenue in Kaplan, Monday evening proved to be anything but typical, after a high speed chase ended in their neighborhood.

That's where two suspects 32 year old Robert Sinegal and 54 year old Lawrence Julien abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot. Prompting Kaplan Police, Vermilion Parish Sheriff's and State Police Swat teams to evacuate two households and set a perimeter around the neighborhood.

For Lionel Scott and his 100 year old aunt, one of the suspects made himself a little too close for comfort. According to Lionel Scott police had evacuated his house after they realized Robert Sinegal was under it. Scott says it was around 11P.M. that the police sent dogs under the house and got Sinegal out.

Julien was booked into the Vermilion Parish jail for resisting arrest and criminal conspiracy.

Sinegal was booked for a probation violation, resisting arrest, flight from an officer, and simple criminal damage to property, as well as several traffic violations.
