Lafayette house fire ruled arson

At 7:31 a.m. Monday morning, Lafayette firefighters responded to the 100 block of Lana Drive for a reported house fire. The fire was called in by a neighbor. The neighbor stated that smoke was coming from a vacant dwelling. When firefighters arrived, light smoke was coming from the interior of the dwelling.

Firefighters forced entry to the dwelling and it was confirmed that no one lived in the home.

The fire was located in the living area of the dwelling. The home sustained minor fire damage. The rental property had been vacant for approximately two weeks.

Lafayette Fire investigators have determined that two fires were intentionally set in the dwelling.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS or the Lafayette Fire Department at 291-8716.
