Three people arrested for drug charges following traffic stop

Three people from Mississippi are in the St. Martin Parish Jail following a traffic stop on Interstate 10 east of Henderson which resulted in the seizure of over 10 pounds of marijuana.
 
This morning shortly before 1:30 a.m. Troopers stopped a 2014 Chevrolet SUV driven by 31-year-old Dorthia Patterson of Cornith, MS, on I-10 eastbound near Henderson for a traffic violation.  During the stop a search of the vehicle was conducted and subsequently revealed 10.68 pounds of marijuana.  Patterson and her two passengers, 26-year-old Jason Miller and 35-year-old Jesus Garza both of Booneville, MS, were placed under arrest.  Troopers also discovered that Garza was in possession of less than one gram of cocaine.
 
Troopers booked Patterson into the St. Martin Parish Jail for improper lane use and possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.  Miller was booked for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.  Garza was booked for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and possession of cocaine.
 
This case remains under investigation.
