Retail sales hit record high in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Lafayette retail sales hit $6.02 billion in 2013, the highest year on record. That's according to the Lafayette Economic Development Authority. The Advocate reports retail sales in 2012 were at $5.71 billion - the previous record. LEDA reported that 2013 saw five months where retail sales climbed above $500 million per month, the most for any year on record.
