Discovery of hidden camera leads to peeping Tom arrest

A suspected peeping Tom has been arrested after a Lafayette woman found a camera hidden inside her home.

Deputies were called out to a home on Windrush Lane late Monday night after the woman found the video camera hidden in a plant in her living room.

Deputies say the suspect, 47 year-old Daniel Pouge allegedly entered the woman's house earlier that evening while she was sleeping. Pouge claimed he wanted to talk to her. Once he set off the home alarm, she locked herself in the bathroom and called 9-1-1 as he fled the scene.

Officers asked the woman to contact Pouge and have him to return to the home. Once he pulled into the driveway, deputies approached and saw Pouge throw something behind the fence. Officers soon discovered that the discarded item was a syringe and placed Pogue under arrest. He later admitted to planting the camera, just an hour before the victim discovered it.

Pouge was charged with video voyeurism, unauthorized entry and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was released after posting a $35,000 bond.
