Opelousas man charged with aggravated incest

50-year-old Joseph Jenkins of Opelousas was arrested on February 11 for allegedly molesting his five-year-old granddaughter.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena said, "The victim stated she would often spend the night with her grandfather and sleep in the bed with him. The allegations allegedly occurred several times during these sleepovers.

Vizena stated, "Jenkins was arrested and charged with aggravated incest. This charge is given to an offender who is known to or related to a victim under the age of 13."

"Jenkins is currently being held at the St. Landry Parish Jail with a $100,000 bond," Vizena added.
