New Lafayette fire station groundbreaking

Updated:

A groundbreaking ceremony for a new Lafayette fire station was held Friday. The ceremony was held at the new station's site location at 201 Curran Lane. This station is expected to improve the emergency services in that area of the city.

Construction is expected to begin around March and the project is expected to cost an estimated 2.1 million dollars. Lafayette Fire Department is excited about the expansion of its department.

"We're very excited about this, this is long overdue, we could only purchase property at an appraised value" said Lafayette Fire Chief Robert Benoit.

Fire Chief Benoit is always excited about two new Safer Grants the station also received that would allow them to hire forty additional firefighters.
