Detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office have made a final arrest in the investigation of a rash of thefts that occurred during September and October of 2013.
Justin Babineaux, age 22 of Carencro, was arrested for simple burglary, 6 counts of felony theft (valued at $19,875.00) and theft under $500 after a sheriff's department investigation.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena said, "Babineaux was the third suspect to be charged in this investigation. Other suspects include Lee Covington, charged in October 2013, and Mickail Lowell Gould was charged with his involvement in this crime on November 1, 2013."
Vizena stated, "All three of these arrests stem from their involvement in several thefts and break-ins in the Arnaudville, Leonville and Port Barre areas of St. Landry Parish. Some of the items taken were multiple 4-wheelers, dirt bikes, lawn mowers and other various outdoor equipment. All items were valued at over $20,000."
Vizena said, "These arrests were made possible by a tip that was received through St. Landry Crime Stoppers. The citizens in St. Landry Parish are our eyes and ears. We always follow every lead that we receive and in this case the tip was very valuable in helping solve these crimes."
"Most of the items have been recovered and detectives are working to return the recovered property to their rightful owners," Vizena added.
