LAKE ARTHUR, La. (AP) - Authorities say the cause of death of a 27-year-old Lake Arthur woman whose body was found in a shallow ditch Friday has yet to be determined pending toxicology results.
Sheriff Ivy Woods told the American Press Monday that a preliminary autopsy revealed no immediate sign of trauma or what caused the woman's death.
Authorities are now awaiting toxicology results from blood and tissue tests, which could take several weeks.
Woods says authorities are continuing to treat the case as a suspicious death until an official cause of death can be determined.
Police Chief Cheryl Vincent said Lacie Fontenot had not been seen in nearly a week, but had not been reported missing.
