Program to help low income families with tax returns

Starting Monday, families with low income wanting to prepare their own tax returns can take advantage of free tax help through the IRS program VITA.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program offers families that make fifty two thousand dollars or less and need assistance free basic returns preparation with electronic filing.

Many local communities have VITA sites, which are typically located in schools such as Acadiana High in Scott, libraries, and centers such as SMILE Community Action Agencies.
