Iberia Parish deputies capture fugitive

Sheriff Louis Ackal advises that the suspect Cody Menard has been captured.  Menard was located by Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office deputies at a residence on the 4000 Block of Melancon Road, Iberia Parish.  Menard will be booked into the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office on several charges. 


Iberia Parish Sheriff's deputies are looking for a fugitive in the area of the 4000 Block of Melancon Road up to Romero Road in Iberia Parish.

Deputies are searching for a Cody Menard of Iberia Parish for attempting to disarm a police officer and an expired MVI.

Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Menard for an expired MVI on the vehicle he was driving.

During the traffic stop, Menard initially fled from deputies on foot. Menard was located a short time after by deputies.

However, when deputies attempted to take Menard into custody, Menard became combative and attempted to disarm a deputy.
