February to be proclaimed "Clean Up Our City Month"

Updated:

Lafayette, LA-- The Louisiana Garden Club Federation is holding their Annual Cleanest City Contest.  Lafayette has won the Cleanest City Contest in their category (designate by city size) for the last two years.

At Tuesday night's City-Parish Council meeting, City-Parish President will recognized February as "Clean Up Our City Month" during the President's Report.  City-Parish Council meetings are held at Lafayette Consolidated Government on University Avenue beginning at 5:30 p.m.

"February is a great month to motivate all our residents to do their part to keep Lafayette beautiful.   With the unveiling of the Comprehensive Plan this month as well, which advocates several beautification action items, we hope to draw the public's attention to their part in making Lafayette an attractive community, for our own residents, and for visitors," said City-Parish President Joey Durel in a statement.

Citizens of Lafayette are urged to beautify their community by cleaning up all litter and waste from yards, businesses, parking lots and vacant lots; cutting grass and weeds, and disposing of all paper, cans and waste. A litter-free environment enhances the quality of life within the city and parish of Lafayette for all of its residents.
