As we found out last Friday, bridges, overpasses, and roadways become very dangerous in icy weather.
But as transportation officials prepare for round two, they're trying something a little different.
The Department of Transportation and Development says it's too soon to tell just how bad the weather will get, but this time around, they'll be using a different de-icing method.
Instead of potassium acetate they'll use a salt compound on the roads first.
Officials will be keeping a close eye on the roads for ice..and will be prepared to shut down major roadways.
"Your routes like Interstate 10, I-49, U.S. 90, the Basin Bridge, those are some of the main routes we're going to be concentrating on and making sure the structures are okay for the public to travel on." said Deidra Druihlet.
