Area Weather Closures


Lafayette Parish

Lafayette Teen Court will be closed Monday night.

Lafayette City Court will close Tuesday. All court sessions will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

All courthouses of the 15th Judicial District – Acadia, Lafayette and Vermilion Parishes – will be closed on Tuesday, January 28, and Wednesday, January 29, due to inclement weather conditions.  The courthouses will reopen for business as usual on Thursday, January 30.

The V-A Clinics in Jennings, Lake Charles and Lafayette will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Due to expected weather conditions in Lafayette, all Lafayette Public Library System branches and offices will remain closed through Wednesday, January 29.

St. Landry Parish

St. Landry Parish President Bill Fontenot issued a parish wide curfew beginning Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. each day until Thursday.

The St. Landry Parish Government Office will be closed on Wednesday, January 29th. All district court proceedings held at the parish courthouse will also be postponed. The parish courthouse will resume operations on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 8:00am.

Evangeline Parish

The 13th Judicial court Division B in Evangeline Parish will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Evangeline Parish Police Jury have issued a parishwide dusk till dawn curfew from 6pm Tuesday to 6am Wednesday.

The 13th Judicial District Court, Division B (Judge Thomas F. Fuselier) in Ville Platte will be closed both Tuesday the 28 and Wednesday the 29.  ALL court currently scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday, as well as Thursday, the 30th has been cancelled.  They will reevaluate the weather conditions on Wednesday afternoon to determine the office will reopen on Thursday.  However, all court scheduled for Thursday will remain canceled. 

Acadia Parish

Acadia Parish will be under curfew from dusk Tuesday until dawn Wednesday.

Iota Police Dept: Dusk till dawn curfew Tuesday night.

City Hall in Church Point will be closed Tuesday.

Iberia Parish

The regularly scheduled Iberia Parish Tourist Commission meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 28 is postponed to Friday, Jan. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at the Iberia Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The offices of the City of New Iberia will be closed on Tuesday, January and Wednesday.

The Iberia Council on aging will be closed Tuesday.

St. Mary Parish

The St. Mary Parish Courthouse will close Tuesday, January 28, 2014 and Wednesday.

Financial Fitness 2014 Seminar Has Been Rescheduled Due to the Weather

The City of Franklin's Financial Fitness 2014 seminar entitled "Home ownership" with Mr. Jeffery Beverly has been rescheduled due to the weather.  The seminar, which was to occur Wednesday, January 29, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., will take place Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the Franklin Branch of the St. Mary Parish Library (206 Iberia St.) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

All branches of the St. May Parish Library will be closes Tuesday, January 28th and Wednesday, January 29th. The library should resume regular hours on Thursday, January 30th if the weather and road conditions permit. Call your local branch for updates. 


The following IBERIABANK branch locations are OPEN TODAY with early closure scheduled for 10:00 a.m. today:

IBERIABANK Tower, 200 West Congress Street, Downtown Lafayette
Oil Center, 463 Heymann Boulevard, Lafayette
Broadmoor, 5301 Johnston Street, Lafayette
Settlers Trace, 332 Settlers Trace, Lafayette
Admiral Doyle, 1101 East Admiral Doyle Drive, New Iberia
All other branches in Acadiana are CLOSED today.

UPDATED: State Offices to Close Tuesday, January 28 in 56 Louisiana Parishes


BATON ROUGE – Commissioner of Administration Kristy Nichols announced that state government offices will be closed today, January 28, in the following parishes across Louisiana where hazardous driving conditions and scattered power outages are forecast for the morning due to a mix of rain and sleet, as well as snow and ice accumulation:

Acadia, Allen, Ascension, Assumption, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Caldwell, Cameron, Catahoula, Concordia, DeSota, East Baton Rouge, East Carroll, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Franklin, Grant, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, LaFourche, LaSalle, Livingston, Madison, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Orleans, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Red River, Richland, Sabine, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Tensas, Terrebonne, Union, Vermillion, Vernon, Washington, West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana, and Winn

State officials continue to monitor weather conditions across the state, and this announcement may be updated.

All agency heads are responsible for determining those essential personnel who should remain on duty or those who should report to alternative work sites if necessary.
