It was one year ago Sunday that Chitamacha Tribal Police got that fateful call—officer down.
It was made after the fatal shooting of Sgt. Rick Riggenbach whose last assignment was responding to reports of an armed gunman and mobile home fire on Flat Town Road outside Charenton.
Sunday evening, family, friends and co-workers of the fallen sergeant gathered at the Chitamacha Tribal Police Department to honor his memory.
Sgt. Riggenbach was killed in the line of duty by alleged gunman Wilbert Thibodeaux, who was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder after wounding two St. Mary Parish deputies.
But, Sunday was all about the memory of Sgt. Riggenbach's life.
