Former Port Barre police chief dies


Chief Lewis "Nolan" Badeaux, passed away around three Tuesday morning. Nolan served as Port Barre Chief of Police from 1982-1985 and 1996-1999.

"He was a very close friend of mine and has been Honorary Chief of Police since I took office in 2008. Chief Nolan seemed to know everybody and everybody seemed to know him. He was an amazing person with quite a colorful history. A legend and local celebrity. We will miss him dearly." said Port Barre Police Chief Deon R. Boudreaux.

There will be a memorial service for Chief Lewis Nolan Badeaux at New Life Assembly of God located at 16257 US 190, Port Barre (across from King's Truck Stop) on Friday January 24 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
