Parade, musical honor Martin Luther King Jr.

Updated:

Hundreds lined the streets of upper Lafayette for a big celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Sunday.

The annual holiday parade kicked-off at 3 p.m. at the Clifton Chenier Center.

The parade route continued on Willow Street and followed down Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Parkway.

It ended on Cora Street at the Martin Luther King Center with a musical performance at 4:30 p.m.

And in Crowley, dozens gathered at the Greater Love Family Worship Center for an unique tribute to Dr. King and his legacy---through music.

This event was entirely organized by the youth in the Crowley community and Sunday's musical marked the 15th year of this very special event in the town.
