Iberia Parish deputies investigate shooting in New Iberia

Iberia Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to the 500 Block of Lombard Street, New Iberia on Sunday in reference to shots being fired at a vehicle. 

Once deputies arrived on scene they spoke to the male victim who stated he was parked near the One Stop convenience store at Hopkins Street and Lombard Street and was trying to leave the area.

The victim told deputies that a male on a bicycle was stopped in front of his vehicle not allowing him to drive forward. The victim stated he then horned at the male on the bicycle to move out of the way.

According to the victim, the suspect on the bicycle then brandished a handgun and fired at the victim.  Deputies advised that a bullet grazed the left side of the victim's head.  However, the victim did not sustain any serious injuries.

Detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office are currently investigating the incident and are searching for a black male suspect.
