Lafayette airport outlook for 2014

Updated:

As the airport continues to grow in the number of airline passengers over the years, there are also several projects in the works to improve the airport's physical appearance.

"You can see one of the improvements behind us, it's a private initiative along with another one that's going on our North ramp. Two fairly sizable private investments here in the airport, that means money into the economy in addition to the money that the airport pumps into the local economy based off of those monies that we get from enplanements" say Greg Roberts, Aviation Director at Lafayette Regional Airport.

Also contributing to the ongoing growth of the airport, the demolition of a hanger that's over half a century old, "a World War II hanger actually, it's reached its useful life. And now we are taking it down to make way for a new terminal that will be one step closer to that dream of completion of a new terminal" Roberts tells News Ten.

Roberts believes as long as the community continues to support their airport they can continue to grow; and reminds them to not overlook the convenience factor of getting off and on a flight at home.

"The state is investing a significant amount of money into the airport here and the jobs it will create are wonderful for Lafayette. So we have a lot of positive things going here at Lafayette Regional Airport."

With 3 consecutive record-breaking years, the staff at Lafayette Regional Airport hopes to continue that streak. And believe they will do so once the numbers for 2013 are released.
