Lafayette woman extradited back to Louisiana

Detectives with Louisiana State Police transported Darneesha Lashay Martin back to Louisiana on Monday.

Shortly before 2 p.m., she was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes and Promoting Prostitution.  

 

 



 

Houston police arrested Darneesha Lashay Martin after an extensive and coordinated search by several law enforcement agencies. 

Martin is charged with Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes and Promoting Prostitution.  Martin is currently being held in a Houston jail awaiting extradition to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

This investigation began during "Operation Carpe Diem", which was and operation that lasted approximately two months and utilized Troopers from various sections of the Department of Public Safety, including Patrol, Detectives, Special Crimes, Narcotics, Intelligence, Motor Carrier Safety, Air Support, SWAT and DPS Police. 

They were assigned to teams utilizing the experience and specialized training of the department's members while working closely with local and federal partners. Arrests varied from illegal narcotics trafficking, illegal weapons violations, theft, fugitive warrants, human trafficking, juvenile pornography, and sex offender violations.

 


 

 

State Police are stilling looking for Darneesha Martin.  The Lafayette woman is wanted for trafficking children for sexual purposes. 

We first showed you her picture last month when police announced her possible involvement in a sex trafficking case. 

Today State Police renewed their call for the public to help find Martin as part of a statewide initiative cracking down on sex crimes called Operation Carpe Diem.
