The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating three robberies that have occurred over a four day period. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 232-8477 (TIPS).
First Robbery was at Shiloh Grocery Store located in the 1100 block of Roper Road just outside of Scott on Saturday December 14, 2013 around 8 PM. A black male subject wearing a black jacket, black ski cap and having a blue bandanna over the lower portion of his face and a white tee wrapped around the neck entered the store and demanded cash from the male clerk. No weapon was produced and the clerk did not see a weapon at this point the clerk reached for a baseball bat kept behind the counter at which point the suspect grabbed an IPad the clerk had on the counter and fled on foot. The clerk reported the incident on Sunday around 10:30 AM. Investigators are processing some physical evidence in this case surveillance footage verifies the suspect was heavily disguised.
The second robbery was on Sunday 12-15-2013 around 6:42 PM a man who was vacuuming his vehicle at a carwash in the 400 block of Bonin Road between Lafayette and Broussard was approached by a black male in his 20's with no facial hair, wearing a plain black hoodie jacket with the hood up, grey sweat pants who demanded the victim surrender his money and cell phone. An undetermined amount of cash was taken and the victim denied having a cell phone. The suspect fled on foot towards Rials Drive. Physical evidence in this case is also being processed.
The most recent robbery was on 12-17-2013 around 5:14 PM deputies were alerted to an incident at the Dollar General in the 1200 block of Carmel Drive. A black, male wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, blue bandanna over the lower portion of his face with red gloves on his hands, khaki colored pants and white tennis shoes entered the store and demanded the clerk surrender the cash from the office area. The man was armed with a small handgun. The clerk complied and the suspect fled on foot into a nearby coulee running in the direction of the airport. Investigators are following leads in this case but no suspect has been identified.
In light of the robberies the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office is urging anyone seeing anything suspicious around convenience stores to contact 911.
