Egan man arrested for aggravated rape

Updated:

An Egan man has been arrested and is in jail for charges relating to aggravated rape and child molestation following a State Police investigation.

In early November, Detectives received information which indicated that 37-year-old Damon Broussard of Egan, who is also a Lake Arthur Police Officer, engaged in sexual activity with two children under the age of 15 on two separate occasions.

During their investigation detectives found that Broussard engaged in sexual activity several years ago with a child who was then under the age of 15.

Detectives also discovered that Broussard engaged in sexual activity with a different child, who was then under the age of 13 at the time the incident occurred. Based on their investigation, Detectives were able to obtain a warrant for Broussard's arrest.

Today, Broussard was taken into custody without incident at his home in Egan. He was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail for molestation of a juvenile and aggravated rape.

Detectives do not have any indication that Broussard committed these crimes during his duties as a police officer.
