Firefighters from Lafayette, Carencro, and Scott Fire Departments responded to 104 La Rue Christ Roi Wednesday morning for a reported house fire.

When crews arrived, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the roof of the single family dwelling.

The fire quickly spread to the entire roof and interior of the dwelling. The home sustained heavy fire damage. There were no injuries reported. The owner did lose two pets in the fire: a dog and cat.

The owner, Bryan Grossie, (35), was outside when firefighters arrived. Grossie stated that he was sleeping. When he awoke, he noticed smoke in his living room. There was a blanket on fire near the couch. He attempted to put the fire out, but couldn't.

Fire investigators determined that the fire originated living room. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
