Helping families during Thanksgiving

Updated:

Throughout the year, many businesses host food drives. The end result is an opportunity to help someone in need.

Employees of Frank's International collected enough donations to build 225 boxes. The boxes were loaded with all the makings of a holiday meal. "We sent out emails just asking whatever you can contribute we'll take in.  We also sought out all our vendors.  We asked for donations from them as well," says Marketing Coordinator Celina Allemand.

Frank's International, an oil and gas service company has been a part of Acadiana for 75 years. "I think the past years we set a goal higher than the year before.  So next year, I'm sure our goal will be even higher," explains Allemand.

Last week, Sidney Williams of El Sido's Zydeco & Blues Club along with Pillows of Hope hosted a food drive. The zydeco event brought in customers who brought in donations.

The donated dollars helped to fill 220 boxes of food. "I'm sorry if I forgot anybody; but the whole city, the mayor, the District Attorney's Office all donated something," adds Sidney Williams.

"People are out of work.  People are disabled, waiting on checks.  They just don't have it. They can't buy the food. They need to feed their families," says Chevalier.
