Arrest made in Rayne shooting

Rayne police arrested a 16 year old male in the shooting death of Jonathan Rougeau that occurred on Monday.

Authorities say Judge John Trahan placed a $500,000 bond on the juvenile and remanded him into the custody of the City of Rayne Jail.


Rayne Chief of Police Carroll Stelly announced that Rayne Detectives are investigating a shooting that left a Rayne Man dead on Monday November 18, 2013.

 
Around 10:00 PM, Rayne Police received a 911 call of a medical emergency at 610 Chappuis. When officers arrived, they found a John Nick Rougeau Jr. (35) with a gunshot wound. The Acadia Parish Coroner office pronounced Rougeau dead at the scene.

 
Rayne Police is asking for anyone who has any information, to contact Rayne Police at 334-4215 or Acadia Crimestoppers at 789-TIPS (789-8477). Callers will remain anonymous and could receive up to a $1,000 cash reward for information about this homicide. The investigation is continuing at this time.
