Additional arrests made in homicide investigation

As the joint investigation by St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office and the Berwick Police Department continues, detectives have made three additional arrests in the death of Willie Francis. The additional arrests were made on November 6, 2013.

Kirkland Craft, 22, 1409 Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, LA was arrested at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Morgan City at 2:17 pm for second degree murder.   

Priscilla Francis, 41, 313 B Venus Street, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Franklin at 3:45 pm on a warrant for accessory to second degree murder.

Autumn Alfred, 24, 313 B Venus Street, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Morgan City at 4:30 pm on a warrant for acessory to second degree murder.

Prior to these arrests, on November 5, 2013, a 15 year old juvenile female was taken into custody for second degree murder. Because she is a juvenile, no additional information regarding her identity will be released.

On Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at approximately 11:30 pm, a sheriff's deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area located Francis's vehicle on Highway 90 with the engine running. Concerned for his welfare because of the circumstances under which the vehicle was found, St. Mary Parish Sheriff's detectives launched an investigation into Francis's whereabouts. At approximately 10:30 am on October 30, 2013, Berwick Police received a phone call regarding the discovery of a body along Hwy. 182. The St. Mary Parish Coroner identified the deceased as 23 year old Willie Francis of Bayou Vista. According to the St. Mary Parish Coroner, Francis sustained multiple stab wounds. Working together with Berwick Police, St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office detectives determined through interviews and evidence gathered at the crime scene that Kirkland Craft and the juvenile attacked Willie Francis on Highway 182 in Berwick stabbing the victim to death. Priscilla Francis and Autumn Alfred both had knowledge of the crime. The motive behind the homicide remains under investigation. Evidence gathered at the location is being analyzed at the Acadiana Crime Lab.

Juvenile arrested in homicide investigation
 
In a joint investigation by St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office and the Berwick Police Department, detectives arrested a 15 year old juvenile female for her involvement in the death of Willie Francis.
Detectives developed the juvenile as a person of interest and through further investigation, identified the juvenile as a suspect in the homicide. The juvenile was taken into custody Tuesday evening at 8:25 pm for second degree murder. The investigation continues.
