Rootstock to celebrate Cajun, Creole culture

Rootstock, a new festival celebrating Cajun and Creole music, dance, local cuisine and much more, will be held from noon - 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Beaver Park baseball fields on Fisher Road in Lafayette next to Vermilionville.

The festival will feature hand-made crafts, local food vendors and a 1,000-square-foot hardwood dance floor under a spacious tent.

Featured dance bands include, in order of appearance: Horace Trahan & The Ossun Express; Jeffery Broussard & The Creole Cowboys; Roddie Romero & The Hub City All-Stars with special guests Johnnie Allan and Tommy McLain; and Steve Riley & The Mamou Playboys with special guest David Greely.
