Shooting near LSU campus leaves man seriously injured

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police said a man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a shootout near the LSU campus early Friday morning.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said the shooting happened on West Roosevelt Street near the Edward Gay Apartments just after midnight.

The man who was shot was identified as Adonis Forbes, 23. Investigators said they believe Forbes and a man with dreadlocks fired shots at one another and Forbes was hit.

The LSU Police Department sent an alert to students warning them there were reports of shots fired on West Roosevelt near the apartment complex, which is just north of the campus.

Students were advised to find a safe and secure place to take shelter if they were in the area.

Police are continuing to gather evidence and information in hopes of finding the shooter.
