ULL plans to demolish buildings for parking garage

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has received permission to demolish two of its closed dormitories and adjacent buildings to make room for temporary parking as the university begins construction of a parking garage.

The demolition includes the two dorm buildings, known as Stokes Hall, and an adjacent mechanical building.

The Advocate reports the estimated cost for the project is $100,000, based on information the university provided the UL system board.

Both dorms were built in 1968 and have not been used to house students for the past few years due to needed repairs and renovations.
