Body found in Abbeville

Posted:

Around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Abbeville Police Department was called to an apartment complex at the corner of Oak Street and State Street, because a male body was found sitting in the driver's seat of his truck.

A neighbor walked next to the white Dodge truck and noticed its owner, Hank Eleazar, sitting in the driver's seat with his head leaning against the driver's window. The neighbor said he opened the door and yelled at Eleazar to wake up. He got no response. He called 911.

Eleazar, in his mid 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the police department began an investigation. Neighbors who were on the scene said they saw Hank the day before. They said on Tuesday, however, something did look suspicious by the way his white Dodge was parked in front of his apartment. One neighbor said Eleazar was particular at the way he parked his truck at a certain slant, and he also liked to park it close to his apartment door. Tuesday night the truck was not close to the apartment door and was not parked normally. Also, the truck door was not completely closed and the front light of his apartment is never turned on, like it was Tuesday night, said a neighbor.

The Abbeville Police did not want to release anything other than to say an investigation in the death of Eleazar is taking place.
