Posted: Updated:

OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - St. Landry Parish deputies say an Opelousas man who ran out of gas and left his pickup Oct. 10 on the side of Kennerson Road has been arrested in the death of a motorcyclist who rode into the truck.

Deputies tell The Advocate the truck had no lights on to warn others it obstructed the roadway.

Marcus Amos is being held without bond on one count each of negligent homicide, failure to report an accident, driving under suspension, no insurance, expired vehicle registration and criminal mischief for allegedly filling out a false report.

Capt. Megan Vizena says Cory Shawn Perry was riding his Yamaha west when it struck Amos' truck.

She says Perry died at the scene.

It was unclear whether Amos has an attorney.
