The latest developments in Washington D.C, can't undo some of the effects the shutdown has already caused for one local business.

Each year the Bayou Teche Brewing Company releases a new, seasonal blend. But since the shutdown, they haven't been able to get approval to release their winter blend from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).

That federally run agency approves all labels and formulas. Without that approval, craft brewers can't release any new beers to retail establishments, leaving them sitting on a perfectly good product.

According to Karlos Knott, President of Bayou Teche Brewing, it takes a while to get approval from the TTB. Right before the shutdown, there was about a two month waiting period and then during the shutdown nothing was being processed.

Knott's new winter Blend called Loup Garou, which means Cajun werewolf, was supposed to be distributed before Halloween but that date has been pushed back. Knott says he doesn't have it nearly as bad as many others affected by the government shutdown.

But says when he promises distributors, customers and retailers he'll have a blend by a certain date and he doesn't deliver, it hurts everyone.

With the developments in Washington D.C, Bayou Teche Brewing hopes to get label approval soon and release their winter blend beer by late November, early December.
