Next phase of I-49 South discussed at open house

Posted: Updated:

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development held a public information open house Tuesday for the next phase of I-49 South construction in Lafayette Parish.

The next phase of planned work includes widening U.S. 90 from four to six travel lanes from North of Ambassador Caffery Parkway to Albertson's Parkway.

Work may also include construction of several miles of frontage roads adjacent to U.S. 90, along with multiple overpasses.

Officials with DOTD say they are presenting their first concept to the public. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid 2014 with completion of this phase slated for mid 2017.
