Walkout against Common Core

Posted: Updated:

One mother's frustration with Common Core is garnering a lot of attention, statewide.

Traci Miller who has several kids in the public school system has taken to Facebook, creating the page Louisiana Walk Out Day Against Common Core. Miller hopes that parents will keep their kids home one day in November, showing school systems throughout Louisiana that they are not happy with common core.

Organizer, Traci Miller says some parents have come to her, concerned that this will hurt children more than it will help them. But miller goes on to say that schools close down for carnivals and other fun activities and no one has issues with that. So we should teach our kids that when you passionately believe in something that is being done wrong, it is our right to stand up against that wrong.

Miller hopes if every parent, in every district keeps their kids home on the same day in November, the state will listen and realize common core is not for Louisiana. For the exact date on that walkout in November, go to Facebook and follow Louisiana Walk Out Day Against Common Core.
