Franco-Fête 2013

Posted: Updated:

Help send our local teachers to France. On October 20th La Fondation Louisiane will hold its first annual French themed luncheon called Franco-Fete 2013.

The event will raise money for the scholarship program Escadrille Louisiane, which allows Louisiana graduate students to study in France before they come home to teach French in our schools. The event will also honor world renowned artist George Rodrigue while raising money needed to send local teachers to France.

According to La Fondation Louisiane board member Annie Perret, it cost about 8 thousand dollars to send one teacher to France. So by having this fundraiser they are hoping to raise a lot of money to send these teachers, so they can come back here and teach our kids.

A reduction to CODOFIL's budget left that group, which promotes French in Louisiana, unable to provide for the scholarship program escadrille Louisiane. That's when La Fondation Louisiane got involved with starting Franco-Fete 2013.

The scholarship fundraiser honoring Blue Dog artist George Rodrigue will be held on Sunday October 20th from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. at Ruffino's on the River.

If you'd like more information on how to purchase tickets and help raise money for the Escadrille program call 337-298-5171 or email rsvp@thepicardgroup.com. The deadline to rsvp is October 15th.
