LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A former employee of the Opelousas Housing Authority has pleaded guilty to helping rig the bidding process on construction projects.
U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley said Thursday that 75-year-old Garnette L. Thomas entered the plea before U.S. Magistrate Judge Patrick Hanna to a charge of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
Thomas, of San Antonio, Texas, faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and restitution. Sentencing was set for Jan. 10.
