Victim Robbed at Gunpoint While Making Deposit

Posted:

Lafayette police responded to the 3100 block of Louisiana Avenue on Sunday regarding an armed robbery. The victim stated that she was driving into the deposit lane of a bank when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a black Lincoln Continental truck.

The victim drove and parked at a nearby parking lot, at which time the suspect approached her vehicle and began attempting to break her driver's side window. After several unsuccessful attempts to break the windows on the vehicle, the suspect fired a single shot from a handgun through the window. The suspect then reached into the vehicle and stole a deposit bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled the area in the black truck.

The suspect is described as a black male 5'10, 200 pounds wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a bandana over his face. The victim received minor injuries during the robbery.

Lafayette Police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect and the vehicle he drove during the robbery. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
