Troopers Charge New Iberia Man with Aggravated Rape

The 32-year-old New Iberia man currently in jail as a result of a State police investigation is facing an additional charge Tuesday. 

Authorities have discovered that Austin Gulledge engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of one. Based on the new information, an aggravated rape warrant was obtained for Gulledge's arrest. Tuesday detectives served Gulledge with the warrant at the Iberia Parish Jail where he remains incarcerated.

If convicted of aggravated rape, Gulledge could be sentenced to life in prison or face capital punishment.    


NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) - State police have arrested a New Iberia man suspected of possessing, making and distributing child pornography.

Troopers say 32-year-old Austin Gulledge was arrested Monday at his home.

Authorities say state police, FBI agents and detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office found more than 20 videos of child sexual acts and more than 200 photo images of child pornography.

It was unclear whether Gulledge has an attorney.
