Posted: Updated:

The man police say attached cutout planes crashing into the downtown Lafayette 9/11 memorial has been bailed out of jail with donations from the community.

Salvador Perez was bailed out of jail around 2 a.m. Monday morning. The bail money was raised all by donations from around Acadiana with some telling KLFY this is a constitutional issue-and about government censorship.

Lafayette Police charged, 35-year-old Perez of Lafayette, with criminal damage to a historic building and criminal trespassing. He has been appointed two public defenders. Those helping with this case say they are looking for more legal help around the community to bring light to this issue.
