A Lafayette man was arrested after police say he stabbed his girlfriend multiple times.

Authorities say it happened Tuesday in the 200 block of Woodrow Street. Police say the female victim was involved in a disturbance inside of an apartment with her boyfriend. Police say 49-year-old Warren Chavis took out a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.

The victim was transported to an area hospital and is listed in serious condition. Chavis has been charged with attempted second degree murder.
