Arrest made in Iberia Parish murder

 NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) - Iberia Parish sheriff's deputies have arrested a teenager accused in the death of a woman whose body was discovered inside a home in New Iberia.

The sheriff's office said the 17-year-old boy, of New Iberia, was arrested Friday on a charge of first-degree murder. He is being held in the Iberia Parish Jail. It was not immediately known if he has an attorney.

Sheriff Louis Ackal says his detectives, acting on information they received, were able to link the teenager to the alleged homicide. Further details were not released. The investigation is ongoing.

The 29-year-old victim was found in a residence Thursday afternoon and pronounced dead by the parish coroner's office.   A preliminary autopsy report from the Iberia Parish Coroner says homicide victim Sheena Good died from trauma to the neck.  

 


 

Woman found dead inside Iberia Parish home

Iberia Parish authorities are investigating a suspected homicide after finding a female dead inside a home.

Deputies responded to the 400 Block of Deare Street. Upon arrival a female with no signs consistent with life was located inside of a residence and was pronounced dead by the Iberia Parish Coroner's Office.



Detectives are currently treating the incident as a suspected homicide until further information is provided by the coroner's office. The female is 29-years-old age and her identity is being withheld until the notification of next of kin.
