Former Broussard officer sentenced to 20 years in prison

A former member of the Broussard Police Department will be spending the next 20 years of his life behind bars.

Henry Bates, a former resource officer at a public school in Broussard, pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges of having sex with an under age female who was 14 at the time of the offense. The allegations were initially made by the young girl's family.
