Boustany updates coalition on veterans clinics

Posted: Updated:

Congressman Charles Boustany met with veterans Wednesday to update them on efforts so far to secure veterans clinics in both Lafayette and Lake Charles.

Speaking at the Veterans Action Coalition meeting, Boustany says they are at a budget impass. However, he knows first hand what kind of healthcare veterans get and the troubles they have to get a certain type of care. Boustany says its all about securing the funding.

"The VA promised these clinics in Lafayette and Lake Charles. They messed up with their bureaucratic nonsense that cost us a year and then just as we were ready to get moving again. Then we had the congressional budget office arbitrarily changing the rules of the game." said Boustany.

The chairman of the committee that deals with veterans issues is organizing a meeting with members of congress and the speaker of the house to come up with a game plan.
