UPDATE III: 15 year Old Suspect Charged in Unrelated Shooting

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Police have charge the juvenile suspect with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder in connection with a shooting that occurred on August 8, 2013.  The suspect is alleged to have shot a 21 year old male in the jaw as the victim rode his bike. Police were called in the early morning hours to the intersection St. Landry and University Avenue where the victim advised he was shot in a nearby neighborhood. Both investigations remain ongoing.

 

UPDATE II: Suspect Arrested in Shooting

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Police have arrested a 15 year old male juvenile of Lafayette, charging him with 1st Degree Murder.  The Juvenile is believed to have shot the victim in the 1100 block of Madeline Avenue.  The juvenile was booked into the Lafayette Parish Juvenile Detention Center. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

 

UPDATE: Victim Identified in Homicide

Lafayette, LA – Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department have identified the victim in Sunday's early morning shooting as Connie Burch (51) of Pineville, Louisiana.  Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers.

 

Police Seek Information on Homicide of Female Victim

Original Release: August 18, 2013 @ 7:40 am

Lafayette, LA – On August 18, 2013, at approximately 1:10 am, Lafayette Police responded to the 1100 block of Madeline Avenue regarding a shooting victim.  When officers arrived on the scene, they located a 51 year old female lying on the sidewalk near a coulee bridge.  The victim was dead as the result of a single gunshot wound. The shooting is believed to have occurred between 12:30 am and 1:00 am.

Detectives are seeking information on a person of interest that was seen by witnesses leaving the area on a bike.  That person is described as a thin build black male with a dark complexion, dreadlocks and wearing a white muscle shirt and red shorts.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
