BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A fourth state lawmaker and a former Louisiana congressman have signed up for the 5th District congressional race.

Republican Rep. Jay Morris, a first-term lawmaker from Monroe, and Public Service Commissioner Clyde Holloway, who once served in the U.S. House, added their names to the candidate list Wednesday, on the final day of qualifying.

The election is Oct. 19.

The list of those seeking the seat - which represents northeast and central Louisiana - contains 13 people so far.

Candidates also include Republican state Sen. Neil Riser, Democratic state Reps. Marcus Hunter and Robert Johnson and Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo, also a Democrat.

The 5th District seat is being vacated by U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, who is leaving to become state veterans affairs secretary for Gov. Bobby Jindal.
