St. Landry bus driver drops boy off at wrong bus stop

Posted: Updated:

The mother of an 11-year-old St. Landry Parish student tells KLFY her son was dropped off by a school bus driver in a random neighborhood.

The woman tells us, her son, a student at the former Creswell Elementary, got on the wrong bus Friday. She says the driver asked her son where his house was, then told him that wasn't on his route and asked him to get off the bus. Her son wandered around the neighborhood, where he was picked up by stranger and taken to the police station.

St. Landry Superintendent Edward Brown tells KLFY the incident did happen and is under investigation. He says he met with the parents of the student Monday. Brown confirmed the child was picked up by a unknown driver near Grolee St. and brought to the police station.

Brown tells KLFY "children are precious cargo and bus drivers are highly trained and the system will take precautions that this will never happen again".
